Caring for British Shorthair Kittens and Cats
Caring for a British Shorthair cat doesn’t require much trouble — just brush the coat once a week with a special brush. Frequent bathing of kittens is not recommended — they are able to keep their coat clean on their own. Exception is returning from a country house or preparation for a show. Every two weeks, the cat’s nails need to be trimmed. The ears of a healthy British Shorthair are usually clean, but regular inspection is necessary. If earwax spots appear, the ear canals can be cleaned with lotion. Eye discharge should be removed with a soft cloth moistened with a special solution. To avoid tooth decay and gum inflammation, the cat’s teeth should be brushed regularly, and a veterinarian should examine the oral cavity once a year.
